Q.A.:

Also known as quality assurance. This is a very important part of game production. Quality assurance testers will play the game many times with the goal of finding bugs and other problems before the game is released to the public. The Q.A. department can either be in-house or contracted out to perform these duties. Without Q.A. many games would never be able to run on video game consoles or computers as they would contain numerous bugs and crashes.

QTE/Quicktime Event:

A section of gameplay, usually a pre-rendered cutscene, where a player watches events happen on screen and is occasionally asked to match button prompts on a controller in order to progress through the game. Failure to match these prompts will cause an alternative scene to play out and the player may be penalised. This usually takes the form of player death, or having the player's progress reset to the beginning of a scene.
